~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What a wonderful week!  We have met all kinds of great people here at the Myrtle Beach Yacht Club.  Every day folks get together by the pool late in the afternoon for a few drinks and some good social time...  Many people her have been here for quite a while, while at the very least, is testimony to the kind of place this is...
Yesterday we met a nice couple who edit an ICW Cruising guide who were a wealth of knowledge and very generous with it...  We also met another couple, who just bought a 50' Benateau who live in Florida and are bringing their new boat home....  They were held up a few extra days waiting for a delivery so we got a chance to get to know them..  We hope we can see them again when we pass through Fort Lauderdale...
We also had an interesting visitor at the docks... A baby alligator...  He (or she) bit the leg off one of the resident ducks and caused quite  stir among folks here....  In the end, the duck lived and the aligator seems to have made this marina his new home...
Today was BEAUTIFUL as far as weather goes so Shelley and I rode our bikes the 5 miles to the beach.  When we arrived the place was packed!  I guess this is the first day of sunshine in the last week so everyone wanted in on it...  We staked our a spot on the beach and put up our tiny beach tent only to be told a little while later that "tents" were not allowed on the beach!  Here is a picture of our tent:
Can you figure out why this is illegal?
We packed up our stuff and headed back to the Yacht Club...  Along the way we bought a big bottle of cheap Vodka so now I have something to "dispatch" fish quickly and humanely...  Shelley refused to allow me to use her good booze....
After we returned we enjoyed a few hours by the pool before we returned to the boat for a little siesta...
Before dinner I got our friend Bill to help me up the mast to re-direct the new foredeck light I installed yesterday.  The last job was to untangle the triatic cable that runs between the main and the mizzen mast.  When we had the masts re-stepped, the people who did it, didn't notice the triatic was wrapped around the main mast back stay....  Anyway, all is well now...  We celebrated with a few cocktails then Shelley and I treated ourselves to an expensive dinner out...  McDonald's!  We both had a chicken sandwich, Shelley had fries, and I had a sundae, and we both had a small drink, and the total bill was $7!! WOW!
This is a picture of our new friends, Bill & Carol's beautiful boat, Spirit...
We are heading to bed for an early night and hope to get back on our bikes in the morning and do some more exploring....
Cheers!
