Big Changes!

After 2 long years of Covid-19 the world has turned into a crazy place.  Half the people in the world don’t believe the pandemic is/was real, the other half seem to be using it as an excuse to send inflation through the roof!  Either way, Shelley and I have been lucky enough to be gainfully employed here at Ganges Marina on Salt Spring Island in British Columbia, Canada.

Just before Christmas on December 7th I was looking after a problem on the break wall of the marina when a freak accident happened and I was crushed under a piece of equipment and broke my back in 5 places (3 breaks in the thoracic spine and 2 breaks in the lumbar spine, plus 3 more broken ribs bringing the grand total to 27 breaks over 10 ribs in two accidents!)

I was airlifted to Vancouver General Hospital where thanks to some amazing surgeons and hospital staff I now have two rods and 8 screws holding me mostly back together.  We spent Christmas in a hotel room in Sidney BC because I could not get on or off Blowin’ Bubbles.  Early in the new year we returned to the marina where I am still recovering (more slowly than I would like).  The downside is that I am still having trouble getting around so we made the difficult decision to accept an offer from a lovely couple from Alberta, Canada to purchase the boat from us.

As a part of the deal we agreed to purchase their 27’ travel trailer where we are now living here at the marina.  In April we signed a contract for another year and we are hoping that in that time I can heal a little more.

We have no idea what the future holds for us but we both know just how lucky we are to have what we have and live the way we do.

We thank everyone who has followed us over the last 8 years.  As our adventures unfold going forward we hope to share that here on our blog.
