What another beautiful city! Full of history, full of life...  During our sail we saw at least 6 huge manta rays and caught another good size tuna!
Terrible picture - Huge Manta Ray!

After a 12 hour sail from Fernandina Beach we arrived in St. Augustine, Florida and took a mooring ball at the Municipal marina for $20 per night.  With only a short Dinghy ride to the dock we have explored and enjoyed the last few days.

On our first day here we explored the richness of the old part of St. Augustine.  We took a trolly which allowed us on and off throughout the city for 3 days.  A good deal for $20 each!

The highlight of our time here in St. Augustine was seeing our very special friend (we call her our 4th daughter), Christina. She was with 2 lovely people from England on their way to Switzerland to work for the winter at a luxury resort.  We met Alex and Kate and enjoyed a meal with the Tuna we caught on our way here.

Today we explored an old lighthouse and they took us to Walmart to provision before they left for the Lauderdale airport.

After they left, Shelley and I explored the local winery... Oh yea, another chance to taste the wares...

Finally... Here is the view from our boat... Life is Good!

Cheers!

After 3 1/2 months we are travelling through our last State in America as we work our way south...

We are in Fernandina Florida after travelling overnight from Savannah Georgia.  A beautiful sail with a beam breeze and a starlit sky!  It is truly amazing how many stars you can see when you free yourself from all the light pollution of the city.

Before we left Charleston we met a wonderful young couple waiting patiently for their first child to arrive.  What we loved about Derrick and Casey, was their passion for the sea.  their dream will be to one day travel as Shelley and I are, only they want to bring their child(ren)...  We hope their dreams come true!

Today we made like tourists again.  We explored the Historic District of Fernandina where we found  a town rich in beauty and charm...  When you visit Florida, as soon as you cross the state line, you really need to check this place out..
Spanish Moss...  The natives used to make clothing out of it... ITCHY!

David Levey - First Senator from Florida...  He is really not very chatty....

The local museum made in a local jail....

The county courthouse... Big sign - NO GUNS ALLOWED!  Really?

Postcards to Mackenzie!

Florida's OLDEST Bar...  A must see....

Our mini van...

When at anchor... we haul water....

GREAT SHRIMP!  $7.99 per pound...  Try that at home....

Our plan is to leave early in the morning and make it to St. Augustine by late tomorrow evening...

BTW, this was our view tonight.... We may never come home....

Cheers!

We are headed south again!
Our NEXT Sailboat

While Shelley was in Canada she (as already blogged) attended our youngest daughter's high school graduation.  She also saw most of our other children...  and our grand daughter...  who by the way is going to have a brother or sister late in March!  Congratulations Steve and Steph... We love you so much!

It was Canadian Thanksgiving while Shelley was home so she visited most of our family and friends... When she came home she said she needed a vacation from her vacation... lol...

After Shelley's return on Tuesday, we provisioned and had a chance to go out for dinner with a WONDERFUL family friend, Ron, who was in Charleston in business and found time to see us...  We just wish we could have see his wife Judy as well...

We also took some time for some last minute site seeing.  Charleston SC, is a BEAUTIFUL CITY.  everyone should come here at least once.  It is rich with history and culture.  Our last stop was at the Charleston Museum which was a highlight of our stop here...

Early Thursday morning we pulled anchor and headed south.  We stopped last night at North Edison River.  It was quiet and uneventful.  Today we traveled another 50 nm's and ended up anchored off Hilton Head Island...
