SOUTH CAROLINA
It is that time of year, when most everyone just seems a little happier! I have decided that for us, every day is CHRISTMAS! For we receive the gift of happiness and freedom everyday. While I am sure this nomadic lifestyle that takes us away from family, friends and security isn't for everyone, it seems to be still working for us...
Last week, our youngest daughter arrived from Canada to spend Christmas with us. What a special gift! Getting to us isn't as easy as one might think here in the Kuna Yala province of Panama. She arrived in Panama City where we arranged for our trusted friend, Roger to pick her up at the airport. Since she arrived in the afternoon and the Kuna lock the gate here at 4 pm, we arranged for her to stay in the city overnight. The next morning Kelly got in a 4 wheel drive SUV and traveled almost 5 hours to a place called Carti, where we picked her up in our dinghy...
Our boat was another mile away in a bay where we anchored the night before... (Note: if you ever come to see us, travel light... it's a long way!)
After her arrival we sailed to a place called Salardup where we stayed a few days.

Happy Birthday Shelley! |
We took a special tour with one of the premier Mola makers here in the San Blas, Lisa. She took us by Cyuka up the river to a special place in the mountains few tourists get to see. Each time she takes tourists, she must get permission from the Congresso (Indian Leadership). Thus the place is nearly pristine and as beautiful today as it might have been a century ago... The water was clean and crystal clear. We hiked almost 2 hours in and followed the river most of the way back. What a great day!

From Salardup we motorsailed to the East Lemons where we will be spending Christmas... Kelly has been enjoying swimming, kayaking, snorkeling and walking n the beach... I am sure the only way it could have been better was if her boyfriend was here... hmmm.... too bad...
