Shelley's Birthday Trip (Part 2) - Da Nang

At the end of a busy week, we sadly said goodbye to Denis as he left to return to Canada.  We walked over to the domestic terminal and flew just over an hour to Da Nang which is a coastal city in central Vietnam known for its sandy beaches and history as a French colonial port.

The pool on the top of the hotel had the best of intensions when they had a sign translated with the pool rules...  It pays not to depend on Google alone.....

Our first night found us exploring the local night market.  Great food and friendly people turned out to be the order of the day.

It is also home to the Dragon Bridge.  Blowing fire and water every weekend we thought this was very cool.

While in Da Nang we visited Ba Na Hills.  Wow!  Recorded 4 times in the Guinness Book of Records the cable cars here are the longest one-wire sling with a the length of 5,777.61m; the longest distance between each station of 1,368.93m; the longest unpatched wire in the world of 11,587m; and finally the heaviest cable roll in the world of 141.24 tons.(1)

This is also the place where in 2018 they completed the Golden Bridge, which is a 150 meter long bridge supported by two hands carved out of stone.

We spent the day exploring a place filled with art, nature and people from ever corner of the world... Traveling changes a person.  For the better I think...

We stopped for lunch at an all you can eat buffet thinking it wasn't going to be good...  How wrong we were, it was awesome!  I should have known, how can you miss with a name called "The Beer Gardens".

There was so much to see and do, I think another day might have been fun, but we had more places to go and explore....

I will leave you today with the funniest thing we saw all day.  The "Lost & Found" displays returned electronics that people have lost here at Ba-Na Hills...  It was quite a collection!

Part 3 next week....
